Where to base a group in Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc is about 50 km long and its hotels sit in distinct zones. The zone decides drive times, dinner options and how many coach runs a programme needs, so we fix it before anything else.
The resort zones at a glance
| Area | From PQC airport | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Long Beach (Bai Truong) | 10–25 min | The widest choice of international resorts, short airport runs and easy evenings in Duong Dong. |
| Duong Dong town | 15–20 min | Night market, local restaurants and mid-range hotels; useful for dine-arounds and staff rooms. |
| Ong Lang | 25–30 min | A quieter stretch of the west coast with boutique resorts; small private groups and wellness stays. |
| An Thoi & Sunset Town | 25–35 min | The Hon Thom cable car, boats to the southern islets and evening events at Sunset Town. |
| Bai Khem & Sao Beach | 30–35 min | Sheltered south-east beaches and secluded resorts; weddings and retreats. |
| Bai Dai & Ganh Dau (north-west) | 45–60 min | Large-capacity resorts beside the safari park, Grand World and the golf course. |
Drive times are typical planning ranges for a private car outside peak traffic. Coaches and extra hotel stops take longer; we confirm the timing of every run.
How to choose
- Boat-led programmes: a southern or Long Beach base saves up to an hour of road a day compared with the north.
- Golf-led programmes: stay in the north-west near the course and transfer once each way.
- Event-led programmes: put the main venue and the room block in the same zone; split hotels only with a timed shuttle plan.
- Mixed groups: Long Beach is the usual compromise, central and close to both the airport and Duong Dong.
Splitting a group across hotels
Large incentive groups often need two or three hotels. We plan this as one manifest with a pickup order per hotel, and size each vehicle to its largest pickup rather than the average.
Where the hotels sit in different zones, we keep the shared moments — the welcome dinner, the boat day, the gala — at venues that are fair to both.
