Phu Quoc · planning guide

Phu Quoc weather and sea by season

Phu Quoc has two seasons. The dry months, roughly November to April, bring calm seas on the west coast and clear sunsets. From about May to October the south-west monsoon brings showers and rougher water on the western side.

November to April

The main season for boat days, beach events and sunset functions. Late December to February, including Lunar New Year, is the busiest period, so room blocks and boats should be requested well ahead.

May to October

Showers tend to come in bursts rather than all day, and resort rates are lower. Waves on the west coast can stop boat trips to the southern islets; the east coast around Ham Ninh is often calmer. Every sea day in this season has a land alternative ready.

What we plan for every programme

  • A covered or indoor backup for beach dinners and ceremonies.
  • A decision time on the morning of each boat day, made with the skipper.
  • Outdoor activities timed away from the midday heat, with shade and water.
  • A flexible order of days, so a calm morning can be used for the boat.

Questions planners ask

What is the best time for a group trip to Phu Quoc?

For boat-heavy programmes, December to April has the calmest seas. For resort-based meetings, the wet season works well thanks to lower rates, as long as every outdoor moment has an indoor backup.

Are boat trips cancelled in the rainy season?

On some days, yes. The skipper decides on the morning from wind and waves; we keep a land alternative ready and move the boat to a calmer day where the programme allows.
